Airtime.

The Surfdock Clinic starts tomorrow with all the boys arriving at midday here in Fuerte for what promises to be an action-packed week. It looks like we'll be chilling tomorrow afternoon, maybe a little session at Glass late on, then heading down to Sotavento on Wednesday after a lazy breakfast. After that the wind is hitting us big-time and we'll be heading to Punta for the remainder of the week to work on forwards, back loops and push loops. I can't wait!
Meanwhile here are some pics from the past week at Glass...

Locals only (video)....

With the Surfdock clinic almost upon us, with 8 guys soon to arrive bursting with enthusiasm I'm saving my energy and resting up my poor broken hip so I can sail as much as possible next week with them so yesterday I took my video camera down the east coast and filmed my mates at a spot we sail quite regularly in N/NE when there's a big swell in the north. This place goes off when it works well but unfortunately the swell was small and the wind was on the light side yesterday but I videoed anyhow and the following video is the result. It was actually quite nice just sat there on the rocks in the sun for a few hours watching all the action. Obviously I managed to miss the best bits- Dany's huge stalled forward bail and Jerman's fully planing goiter back into the wave but it's hard to keep an eye on everyone at once. Good practice for next week though as I plan on doing a lot of video analysis with the boys. Check it out...

The time has come...

Well, after 5 years of increasing pain it's finally time to bite the bullet and go for long-awaited surgery on my buggered hip. I'm pencilled in for my hip resurfacing in the middle of July this year so am going to miss the summer wind here but am looking forward to getting on with my rehab and being back on the water in the New Year if all goes to plan. Fingers crossed!
In the meantime I have been ekeing the last dregs out of my broken, cartilageless joints and have scored some great sessions at Punta (see pics below) and, more recently, Glass (see above pics), albeit that I can only sail for half an hour before the pain forces me off the water. Next week I have the Surfdock Clinic with the boys from Ireland which is a blast and I'll be teaching as much as possible on the water but this year with much more on-the-beach tuition and video analysis. I can't wait, the forecast is epic and they're a fantastic bunch so let the good times roll...keep an eye on the blog as I will have loads of pics, reports and video to post up while they're here.

Welcome to the site!
Aswell as regular features and news updates from Fuerte, I am going to be using this site to promote my windsurfing clinics.
After 15 years on the island, having competed in the PWA freestyle world cup and now representing Fanatic Boards and North Sails, I have decided to give something back to the sport which has given me so much over the years.
My aim is to provide clinics "tailor-made"for each individual, with a strong emphasis on practical in-the-water instruction, backed up by on-the-beach tuition and video analysis. The consistent conditions here in Fuerte make learning so much easier and, perhaps equally important, more fun than the typically inconsistent, cold UK - why not come over for a week and improve your windsurfing by a year!!!

I can help with any manoeuvres from carve-gybe through to advanced jumping and freestyle, just email me with your wish list and we'll take it from there! Over the next few months, I am going to be video-chronicling manoeuvres which you can check out on the right in my tricktionary sections. This will give you some idea of the things we can work on, or, if you can't make it over here, you may find them useful to help understand and break down a manoeuvre you would like to learn (hopefully, the slow-mo will help in this respect!).Just click on the trick and scroll down..........
Anyway, keep checking it out as I have loads more in my bag of tricks and will be updating as and when I get the footage.
If you're interested, e-mail me on gibboinfuerte@yahoo.co.uk
See ya in Fuerte?
