Well, after 5 years of increasing pain it's finally time to bite the bullet and go for long-awaited surgery on my buggered hip. I'm pencilled in for my hip resurfacing in the middle of July this year so am going to miss the summer wind here but am looking forward to getting on with my rehab and being back on the water in the New Year if all goes to plan. Fingers crossed!
In the meantime I have been ekeing the last dregs out of my broken, cartilageless joints and have scored some great sessions at Punta (see pics below) and, more recently, Glass (see above pics), albeit that I can only sail for half an hour before the pain forces me off the water. Next week I have the Surfdock Clinic with the boys from Ireland which is a blast and I'll be teaching as much as possible on the water but this year with much more on-the-beach tuition and video analysis. I can't wait, the forecast is epic and they're a fantastic bunch so let the good times roll...keep an eye on the blog as I will have loads of pics, reports and video to post up while they're here.
Best of luck with hip.Michael
